This year the RIAS’ Festival of Architecture 2019 will collaborate with The Scottish Civic Trust's Doors Open Days events across the country to bring a focus to Architecture during the autumn.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Doors Open Days, the Royal Incorporation of Architects and its Chapters will collaborate with members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to engage with communities across Scotland in talks and workshops about the Future of the Tenement. Other activities will include a Scottish Civic Trust led community based exploration of the architecture of Scotland's Islands and as last year, the Festival of Architecture will umbrella the calendar of events and activities that promote the art and science of architecture and the work of our members.
The Festival will prefigure some of the ideas that will be presented at the RIAS Convention in October, where the winners of the student Awards and the winner of the RIAS Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award will be announced.
Sign up to Architect in the Hoose and speak to an architect for ideas and inspiration!
The scheme is very simple and all contributions go to charity – architects across Scotland are offering hour-long consultations to the public in return for a £45 donation (a bargain!) to the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS). The ABS helps people of all ages who have experienced redundancy, illness, accident or bereavement. One in six of those cared for is under the age of 35, and half of those helped by the Society are below retirement age.More info
