This year the RIAS’ Festival of Architecture 2018 will support events through its brand to bring a focus to Architecture during the autumn. The Festival is a Scotland-wide annual celebration led by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) which brings Scottish architecture to life. The 2018 RIAS Festival of Architecture will umbrella the calendar of events and activities promoting the art and science of architecture and the work of our members.
During September, the RIAS collaborates with Scottish Civic Trust (SCT) Doors Open Days bringing the public in touch with architectural practices and the work of architects. The Festival draws together the energy and ideas presented at the RIAS Convention in May, the winning buildings from our membership and student Awards in June and lead us to the RIAS Doolan Best Building in Scotland Awards in November. All of this will take place in the context of the ‘Year of Young People’ showcasing events focused on young practitioners and the built environment.
Sign up to Architect in the Hoose and speak to an architect for ideas and inspiration!
The scheme is very simple and all contributions go to charity – architects across Scotland are offering hour-long consultations to the public in return for a £45 donation (a bargain!) to the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS). The ABS helps people of all ages who have experienced redundancy, illness, accident or bereavement. One in six of those cared for is under the age of 35, and half of those helped by the Society are below retirement age.More info
